To whom it may concern,
I currently am a commissioner of the Sterling Heights Sustainability Commission and I wish to convey my full support of this proposal. The City of Sterling Heights had made great strides towards improving existing structures and promoting sustainable practices having launched its Think Sterling Green program, which started last year and helped provide a number of residents and businesses with rain barrels and funding for various projects like solar panels and heat pumps that quickly allocated all its funds for such projects in very short order. Given this response and feedback I've personally received from fellow residents, it is my sincerest wish that the MSPC further fund our efforts as these funds will definitely not go to waste and will help showcase state and local efforts to adapt and change to our ever-changing climate.
Sincerely,
Matthew S. Smith

Fostering the adoption of electric vehicles and at-home charging through Go Green not only reduces emissions but also supports the local automotive industry and job creation.

As an EV owner, I strongly support this proposal, which will help increase accessibility to EV chargers in Sterling Heights. Currently, the number of publicly accessible EV chargers in southwestern Macomb County is severely inadequate to handle the number of EVs in the area. The lack of adequate publicly accessible EV chargers poses particularly problems for low-income individuals with EVs, who may not be able to afford installation of an EV charger at their residence or who may live somewhere where they are unable to have EV chargers installed (e.g., apartments, rental houses). Incentivizing local businesses and community organizations to install EV chargers will help develop the EV charging network in the area. As EV charging becomes more accessible, this will reduce concerns from individuals who are contemplating purchasing an EV but who are concerned with the lack of sufficient charging options currently in the area. This proposal is consistent with MI Health Climate Plan’s goal of installing 100,000 additional EV chargers to support two million EVs by 2030.
